Soil

The soil contains a lot of humus and is rich in minerals because, this ecozone has a high amount of rainfall, so this makes the soil rich in minerals, although some of the soil that has a high  elevation is dry and infertile because of the lack of moisture. This ecozone has a lot of mountains, this means that this ecozone experiences a lot of rainfall. These mountains are still young, if you go up above 900m, the tundra starts to grow because the soil doesn't contain much minerals, as much as it does below 900m. In the northern part of the ecozone the soil is low in nutrients and not much vegetation grows.

Vegetation

The Pacific Maritime ecozone has a lot different species of trees, and  most of the land is covered with forests, because of this ecozone's climate. It has a high amount of rainfall, contains lots of humus and  is rich in nutrients. Pacific Maritime is Canada's home of rainforest. This ecozone is famous for trees. Western Hemlock, Sitka Spruce and Red cedar are some of the trees that grow there.

This ecozone is the home to the largest trees in Canada. Western Hemlock Forests, Mountain Hemlock Forests, Douglas Fir Forests, Arbtus and Garry oak Woodland Forests. These are the 5 main forests in Pacific Maritime Ecozone. The vegetation here is vast because of the 200-260 days of the growing season!
