Climate
As you know the Pacific Maritime Ecozone is located in the west coast of canada near the Pacific Ocean. Meaning it’s located near a very large body of water, has more than 1000mm of precipitation annually, and lastly the temperature in summer ranges from 130 C to -1.50 C. By these factors we can tell that this ecozone has a Maritime climate.
This Ecozone has a very wet weather since it gets more than 1000mm of precipitation annually. This is why this region has cool summers and mild winters. Due to the mild temperature most of the year round, this climate is capable of supporting lots of different types of vegetation. Which is why this ecozone has some of the tallest and oldest trees in the world.

Climate is a major factor that affects the land, air and many other things. Climate also affects the types of soil that are formed. The Pacific Maritime Climate creates a soil region called the “Complex Soils of Mountain Areas”. This type of soil region is created, when their are different amounts of precipitation in different areas of the region, this doesn’t allow a certain type of soil to fully establish. Therefore there are different types of soils throughout the region and all this is because of the climate.
